Market prep
A crochet market packing checklist for your first stall
Pack from a list that matches your event. Start with the organiser’s requirements, then add the stock, display and everyday supplies you need to run your crochet stall.
This checklist is a starting point, not a substitute for event instructions. An indoor table, an outdoor pitch and a multi-day market can require very different equipment.
Before you pack
- Confirm arrival, unloading, parking and departure arrangements.
- Check table dimensions and whether tables or chairs are supplied.
- Read the event’s display, power and weather requirements.
- Keep your booking confirmation and organiser’s contact details accessible.
- Confirm any permits, insurance or product requirements that apply to your situation.
Stock and product information
- Finished stock, counted by product and checked for condition.
- A starting inventory list and a way to record sales.
- Prices that are easy to find and understand.
- Relevant care, material and product information.
- Packaging suitable for the items you sell.
- Separate boxes or bags for backup stock.
- A small repair or finishing kit for your own items.
Use a list that distinguishes display stock from backup stock. If you are still making items, the market-prep planner can export a CSV with your planned quantities and remaining production.
Your display
- Table covering that fits the assigned space.
- Stands, risers or containers that you have checked for stability.
- Brand and price signs.
- Clips, tape or fixings permitted by the venue.
- A photo of your trial display to make setup easier.
- Weather equipment required by the organiser for an outdoor pitch.
Trial the setup before market day. Make sure customers can see prices, you can reach backup stock, and equipment does not obstruct walkways. Follow the organiser’s rules for structures, weights and power rather than relying on a generic packing list.
Taking payments and recording the day
- Your chosen payment equipment, charged and tested.
- Charging cable and a compatible power bank if needed.
- A plan for connectivity or payment-device limitations.
- A cash float if you accept cash.
- A secure place for payments and valuables.
- Pen, notebook and an inventory or sales record.
- Any receipts or customer information your business needs to provide.
Check the settings and requirements of the payment service you actually use. Do not assume that a card reader will work offline or that a venue has reliable connectivity.
Personal essentials
- Water, food and any personal essentials for the selling day.
- Suitable clothing and layers for the location.
- A chair if allowed and not supplied.
- A plan for breaks and looking after the stall.
- Basic cleanup supplies and a bag for rubbish.
Pack for the order you will unpack
Keep setup equipment together and accessible. Label stock containers so you can find products without emptying every box. Pack a final small bag with the items you will need immediately: booking details, payment equipment, signs and a pen.
After the market, note what you used, what you forgot and what stayed in the box. Update this list for your next event rather than carrying the same unnecessary equipment indefinitely.
